An Energy Audit

What is an Audit? A typical residential audit takes the better part of a day. I will use many tools and some software to determine where energy is being lost from your home. By the end of the day I will provide you with a list of suggested projects. They will be listed in order of: Health and Saftey first, then prioritized by return on investment.

Blower Door: I can use this tool to simulate a 20 mile per hour wind blowing on all sides of your house. This allows me to zero in on where the cold air leaks in and where the hot air leaks out.

Infrared Camera: This is a special camera that sees surface temperatures rather than a visual image. The IR camera can see if there is missing insulation in a wall. With the information from it, I can calculate the R-value of the wall or ceiling to see if it is worth adding insulation!

Combustion Anylizer: This instrument allows me to measure the efficiecy of any boiler, furnace, or space heater. It will also indicate when a heater needs service.

This is the first part of a Energy Audit report, the Infrared Report.

Next there is a written summary report that provides: a list of prioritized projects, a list of suggested contractors.

Then there is a listing of projects with there estimated cost, estimated savings with return on investment and estimated payback.
